Film Institute: Core Funding ÖFI+

The program of the Austrian Film Institute comprehensively supports Austrian feature film productions and offers automatic basic funding upon fulfillment of defined criteria. The goal is to strengthen the competitiveness of the domestic film industry, increase the attractiveness of the location, and achieve a noticeable increase in value creation in Austria. Additionally, ecological sustainability and gender equality are actively promoted by embedding corresponding incentives in the funding procedure. Designed as a grant, the measure not only improves the financial framework conditions but also contributes to planning security and facilitates the exploitation of Austrian feature films both domestically and abroad.

Eligible for funding are public institutions as well as primarily feature film producers and all stakeholders engaged in the film sector whose projects are realized in Austria. Applications can be submitted at any time – however, early planning facilitates budgeting. The basic funding is based on tax-relevant costs, with operating costs and personnel costs being particularly eligible. A prerequisite for approval is a proven production location in Austria, compliance with the funding guidelines, and documentation of duly recognized expenses. The open submission option and clear funding criteria ensure efficient processing and make an important contribution to the sustainable establishment of Austrian filmmaking.
