Description
The film project “Mysterious Floodplains” supports small businesses based in Austria in the production of two high-quality television documentaries on the topic of floodplains and flood risk management. Within the framework of the “Water Engineering Strategy 2030+” and the “Auenstrategie Austria 2030+,” a 50-minute prime-time documentary for 3sat as well as a 25-minute version for ORF are being funded. Additionally, three making-of segments and approximately three minutes of short clips will be produced for use on the funding agencies’ online and social media channels. The goal is to foster sustainable, widespread awareness of the value of near-natural floodplains, energy efficiency, and climate protection. The Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Climate and Environment (BMLUK) is providing a total budget of €18,000 for this purpose.
Funding is granted to film production companies and media enterprises with proven expertise in environmental and flood risk management. The grant is disbursed in two installments of €9,000 each, contingent upon timely completion by June 2026, submission of a detailed factual report and a numerical verification, and compliance with the funding contract. The BMLUK partner logos must be displayed in the end credits as well as in all cross-promotions in accordance with publicity requirements. Applications may be submitted from 01.07.2025 to 30.06.2026. This tailored funding scheme motivates creative experts to realize sustainable educational and media projects and to make a decisive contribution to strengthening environmental and climate protection in Austria.
