Financial Support for Language Courses by the Willy Scharnow Foundation for Tourism

The Willy Scharnow Foundation for Tourism supports foreign language courses nationwide for employees in the tourism industry and tourism students with a subsidy of up to 50% of the course fees, but no more than €300. Only course costs within Germany and abroad are considered; expenses for travel, accommodation, or meals are not covered. Payment is made retrospectively upon submission of an official certificate of participation. Funding applications for the year 2026 can be submitted until March 31, 2026. This measure aims to strengthen language qualifications in the tourism sector to facilitate international professional contacts and access to specialized information in foreign languages.

Eligible for funding are all employees of the tourism industry as well as students in the field of tourism who can provide a registration confirmation from the language school for the respective year. The following documents are required for the application: the fully completed application form, an employee ID or enrollment certificate, and the documents confirming registration with the language school. Submissions can be made by post or email to the foundation's office. Decisions and payments will be made after the deadline and review of all received applications. Interested parties are advised to review the funding guidelines early and to complete their course registration in a timely manner to optimally utilize the funding rate and sustainably improve their foreign language skills for the international tourism sector.
