Description

The project “New Neighbors” of the Diakonie Foundation “Charity in Einbeck” has been promoting voluntary engagement for refugees in Einbeck and the surrounding area since 2022. The goal is the coordinated placement of volunteers with newly arrived individuals to establish a sustainable culture of welcome. Participants receive support with everyday tasks, social counseling, as well as practical training sessions. Additionally, a central meeting point offers space for encounters, conversations, and joint activities. The initiative strengthens partnership cooperation with local clubs and institutions and makes a valuable contribution to integration and social cohesion in Lower Saxony.

Eligible applicants are private individuals and non-profit organizations from Einbeck and the surrounding area who commit to volunteering. Participation requires residence or engagement on site, willingness to contribute, and attendance at a brief introduction/counseling session. Applications can be submitted at any time: required documents include the registration form for language courses, the form for registration as an everyday mentor, and, if applicable, the form for furniture donations. The Diakonie Foundation provides financial resources for the continuous support and training of helpers and ensures ongoing funding opportunities for sustained assistance. This offer is equally aimed at dedicated volunteers and refugees seeking help with official appointments, furnishing living spaces, and organizing daily life.
