FÖJ Placement Site (Environmental Station) – Foundation for the Cultural and Meeting Center Abbey Waldsassen

The Kultur- und Begegnungszentrum Abtei Waldsassen Foundation annually funds a placement in Bavaria for a Voluntary Ecological Year (FÖJ) at its environmental station. The funding is provided as a subsidy for private individuals aged 16 to 27 and offers insights into diverse fields such as environmental education, nature conservation, gardening and administrative work, as well as commitment to social cohesion and climate protection. During the twelve-month placement, participants support educational programs in the monastery and nature experience garden, develop their own ecological and didactic project ideas, and work closely with freelance staff and volunteers. The environmental station provides a furnished apartment in Waldsassen, within walking distance of the placement site, thus offering ideal conditions for intensive local engagement.

Interested applicants are young people who wish to gain practical experience and implement their own creative concepts. Requirements include a timely application via BDKJ Bayern and compliance with the FÖJ age guideline (usually 16–27 years). Through this program, participants can not only expand their knowledge but also develop skills in event planning, public relations, and project management.
