Description

The Paul and Charlotte Kniese Foundation supports needy blind and visually impaired private individuals as well as non-profit organizations and public institutions dedicated to the care and promotion of this target group. Financial grants are available nationwide for individual support and projects to assist with individual aids, therapies, further training measures, or infrastructure initiatives. Non-profit institutions can also apply for funds for projects that sustainably improve the daily life and participation of blind and visually impaired people. The foundation exclusively pursues charitable and non-profit purposes in accordance with the German Fiscal Code and decides on the allocation at the due discretion of its board.

Funding applications can be submitted informally and in writing by post at any time. Applicants must provide proof of blindness or visual impairment, information about their financial and economic circumstances, as well as evidence of the exhaustion of statutory assistance options. Payments for requested aids are made directly to suppliers; retroactive payments are excluded. Funds must be used for the designated purpose and documented with appropriate proof of use. In the evaluation process, neediness, completeness of documentation, and designated use of funds are taken into account in the decision. Feedback is usually provided within six to eight weeks. There is no legal entitlement to funding; all information is subject to data protection.
