Description

The Funding Fund of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region – Hamburg/Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Funding Fund supports investment projects as well as preparatory studies and concepts to sustainably advance the economic, spatial, and cultural development of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. Eligible financing includes, in addition to construction measures, technical equipment, scientific supervision, and concepts for profiling the region. Also eligible for funding are sustainable public relations as well as regional and project management that visibly strengthen the community and intensify networks between municipal and non-municipal partners. Funding can be applied for as a grant or interest-free loan starting from €10,000, with funding rates varying between 50% and 80% of eligible expenses depending on the project type.

Eligible applicants are public institutions, interest groups, and associations in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Hamburg – including districts, offices, cities, and the association “Projektbüro Metropolregion Hamburg e.V.”. Collaborations with additional partners are expressly encouraged and require an appropriate cooperation agreement. A personal contribution of at least 5% of the eligible costs is required (except for Projektbüro Metropolregion Hamburg e.V.), and binding periods of 15 years apply for construction measures and 5 years for technical equipment. From the funding perspective, particular importance is given to contributions to the strategic framework of the metropolitan region, pilot character, sustainability, and networking. The application deadline is ongoing until 31.12.2026. Interested applicants should submit all documents – from detailed project descriptions and cost plans to site and preliminary design plans – punctually and observe the respective funding guidelines.
