Description
The funding principles "Small Hydropower" of the state of Baden-Württemberg support the technical and ecological modernization of hydropower plants with capacities between 100 kW and 1,000 kW. Taking into account the nature conservation legal framework, the program aims to efficiently tap existing potentials and make a sustainable contribution to energy efficiency and climate protection. Applications can be submitted continuously to the respective competent lower water authority. Eligible for funding are natural and legal persons under public and private law as well as companies that meet the EU SME definition and act as owners or lawful operators of hydropower plants or weirs.
Particularly supported are the technical modernization of existing plants, the revitalization of non-operational hydropower plants and weirs, as well as the construction of new plants for ecologically compatible potential development based on the state potential studies. A prerequisite is that the recipients of the grant meet the criteria for SMEs (turnover and balance sheet limits, number of employees, third-party participation) and have not exceeded funding maximum amounts in the last three tax years. These measures promote modernization steps that simultaneously ensure the protection of aquatic ecology and biodiversity.
