Description
The Thuringian Sports Aid Foundation initiates project-based grant funding within the framework of its support circles, specifically preparing Thuringian athletes in Olympic and Paralympic disciplines for participation in the Olympic Games and Paralympics. Two years prior to the respective competition cycle, selected athletes from the current squad of the top national federation are appointed. Based on results from World and European Championships of the previous season as well as long-term development potential, training camps, training sessions, and international competitions are supported through financial and material assistance. Additionally, sports equipment may be provided to create optimal training and competition conditions. The duration of the project funding is always 24 months, ensuring continuous support throughout the entire preparation period.
A prerequisite for appointment, besides Thuringian origin, is membership in a current squad or outstanding achievements in youth sports. The decision is made by the Foundation in coordination with the Thuringian Olympic Training Center, the State Sports Association, and the respective state and top national federations. The goal is to introduce athletes early to national and international levels and enable them to participate in the Olympics and Paralympics on an equal footing. Through its support circles, the Thuringian Sports Aid Foundation makes a sustainable contribution to elite sports development in Thuringia and secures ideal conditions for young talents to make the leap onto the biggest stage of international sports.
