Description

In Saxony-Anhalt, the Ministry of Science, Energy, Climate Protection and Environment promotes municipal projects to eliminate, reduce, and prevent climate change-related waterlogging and erosion in secondary water bodies with funds from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Grant recipients are cities, municipalities, and districts that wish to develop technical concepts or implement investments in watercourse development and protective structures. The funding supports both planning services such as technical concepts, cost-benefit analyses, and organizational proposals, as well as construction measures such as the new construction or redesign of water bodies, pumping stations, sluices, and retention areas. Applications can be submitted at any time before the start of the project to the State Administration Office of Saxony-Anhalt and are continuously available.

The grant is provided as a non-repayable subsidy with a funding rate of up to 80% for planning and conceptual measures and up to 65% for investments, with minimum funding amounts of €10,000 (concepts) and €25,000 (investments) applying. Conditions for approval include, among others, an evaluative statement from the responsible Lower Water Authority, proof of legal and factual prerequisites for the financial participation of favored owners, as well as proof of assuming sponsorship, operation, and maintenance of the facility. Eligible expenses include planning services, investments in watercourse development, and protective structures against waterlogging and erosion; replacement investments are excluded. For the application, the application form, signature card, as well as evidence of income, expenses, fund drawdown, and proof of use must be submitted.
