Funding Partnerships of the Foundation for Science and Democracy (SW&D)

The Foundation for Science and Democracy (SW&D) offers nationwide open funding partnerships and sponsorship measures aimed at the long-term strengthening of liberal democracy in accordance with the Basic Law. Educational institutions, non-profit, and public organizations can continuously submit requests for institutional as well as project-related collaborations. The focus is on political science research projects, science communication, and the exchange between civil society multipliers and political practitioners. Thematically, the funding program covers the areas of engagement for social cohesion, research & innovation, science, as well as work & social affairs, and is specifically aimed at actors who wish to sustainably accompany and make democratic processes visible.

The core objective of the funding is the networking of experts from science and practice to support scientific endeavors with a clear democracy focus and to reach a broad audience. SW&D cooperates, among others, with political science institutes, specialized journals, and event series, pursuing a partnership approach on equal footing. Scientific institutions, political science research facilities, civil society multipliers, and political practitioners are given the opportunity to plan and implement their projects in the long term.
