Description
The 2026 Funding Award of the Lausitz Brown Coal Foundation honors outstanding regionally rooted projects that pursue innovative approaches in the fields of environmental and nature conservation, education, and sustainable development in Lower and Upper Lusatia as well as in adjacent regions of Poland and the Czech Republic. The award recognizes initiatives of non-profit organizations, interest groups, associations, and public institutions that make a measurable contribution locally and strengthen engagement in villages and towns. With a total funding volume of €20,000, the prize rewards measures that increase energy efficiency, implement climate protection-oriented solutions, or realize educational projects for a sustainable society. Applications are possible until July 1, 2026, and are evaluated based on the criteria of regional benefit, impact, and relevance to nature, education, and sustainability.
Participation requires a location in the Lusatia region or the neighboring areas of Poland and the Czech Republic, as well as a clearly defined project objective within one of the funding priorities. To apply, the official call for proposals, a fully completed project funding application, and a detailed project description must be submitted electronically. The award is aimed at sponsors of non-profit initiatives committed to a livable future for Lusatia and who contribute to the further development of rural areas through their projects. The distinction not only provides financial support but also strengthens the profile of the awarded initiatives through public recognition and networking opportunities. Interested parties can find all relevant documents in the call for proposals of the Lausitz Brown Coal Foundation.
