Dr. Rolf Linnenkamp Foundation Award

The Dr. Rolf Linnenkamp Foundation annually awards outstanding scientific works dedicated to the research of mathematical structural analyses of artworks. Based in Bavaria and supporting private applicants, the foundation grants prize money of €2,500 each to young researchers and designers. Projects from the fields of culture, research & innovation, science, as well as culture & media, which demonstrate a clear scientific connection to the mathematical analysis of pictorial artistic structures, are supported. Selection is based on the innovativeness of the project, the quality of the structural analysis, and its contribution to a deeper understanding of artistic design principles.

The award aims to unlock the quality of artworks through comprehensible mathematical investigations, thereby opening new perspectives on historical and contemporary works. Interested applicants may submit their documents at any time; there is no deadline. A prerequisite is an independent scientific work that fulfills the foundation’s purpose and convinces through its conception and methodology. The continuous awarding enables ongoing recognition of innovative approaches and strengthens the interdisciplinary networking of art, design, and mathematics.
