Description
Since 1995, the VerbundVolksbank OWL Foundation’s Award has honored young artists and groups within the business area of VerbundVolksbank OWL eG. With a total prize fund of €25,000, creative achievements in the fields of design/photography, short film/experimental film, literature/language, painting/sculpture/graphics, music/composition/dance, as well as theater/drama are recognized. The aim of the award is to professionally and personally support emerging talent in accordance with the cooperative principle of “help for self-help,” to enable sustainable networks, and to strengthen cultural diversity in North Rhine-Westphalia. Selection is made annually by an expert jury that evaluates the innovation and creativity potential as well as the quality of the artistic work.
Eligible to apply are individuals and groups aged 14 to 29 years with residence or artistic activity in the regional funding area, regardless of formal education. The jury awards the best entries in three age categories, giving both young talents without institutional support and already established emerging artists a fair chance. Meaningful work samples and a convincing concept for the further development of their creative work are expected. The ceremonial award presentation takes place as a matinée at Theater Paderborn and concludes this regionally renowned competition. Interested parties can find information about participation requirements and evaluation criteria and contribute to the future of the art and cultural landscape of OWL.
