Description

The Commerzbank Foundation supports nonprofit projects nationwide in the fields of culture, social affairs, and science, with the aim of making a valuable long-term contribution to the future viability of society. The funding program focuses on innovative and sustainably oriented measures that both preserve cultural heritage and strengthen social participation. Through the provision of grants, nonprofit organizations receive financial support to realize pioneering projects and to unfold their impact over the long term. The program is aimed at institutions actively involved in shaping society and developing a nationwide exemplary role with bold, future-oriented concepts.

In selecting projects to be funded, the foundation places particular emphasis on a balanced conceptual and strategic fit. Decisive factors include not only an innovative approach but also a sustainable financial strategy that extends beyond the funding period. Submitted projects should not only provide immediate added value but also support the structural development of the respective institution in the long term. Projects are thoroughly examined using comprehensive evaluation criteria, such as content balance and strategic potential. Approaches to activating new target groups, as well as measures to promote cultural education and strengthen social participation, are also taken into account.

Interested organizations may submit their applications informally and throughout the year via email. A prerequisite for a successful application is the submission of meaningful documentation—including a one-page management summary, a detailed project description with justification, a well-founded budget plan, and proof of nonprofit status. The foundation points out that certain expenses, such as pure new construction or renovation measures as well as events with a festival character, are not eligible for funding. Decisions are usually made in March and October, allowing projects to be included in funding promptly. This targeted funding program offers nonprofit organizations a platform to pursue pioneering paths for societal advancement in dialogue with the foundation.
