Description

The holiday travel funding program by Aktion Mensch supports nonprofit organizations nationwide in implementing inclusive holiday trips for people with disabilities as well as for children and adolescents. With a clear focus on inclusion, financial grants are provided in the form of lump-sum funding to enable access to recreational and adventure offerings both domestically and abroad. Only the costs for accompanying persons are funded – a central component to ensure participation opportunities during vacations for the target groups. The funding amount can be up to a maximum of 400,000 euros per year and project partner, enabling sustainable support for complex initiatives.

Within the framework of this program, all providers are invited to offer inclusive holiday trips specifically tailored to the needs of people with disabilities as well as children and adolescents. To be eligible for funding, the offerings must be designed and implemented by nonprofit organizations. In addition to funding for accompanying persons, special attention is given to the organization of multi-day trips – excursions without overnight stays or those taking place only in the home area are not eligible for funding. Through this targeted focus, project-related grants can help to dismantle barriers and integrate experiences of inclusion into vacation settings. The program thus addresses organizations that wish to enable genuine participation and communal holiday experiences with customized concepts.

The continuous funding opportunity allows project partners to plan their inclusive offerings sustainably and flexibly. The priority is that terraces and accompaniment are integrally embedded in the holiday concept, so that all participants – with or without disabilities – can participate carefree in diverse leisure activities. With this commitment, Aktion Mensch sends a clear signal for social inclusion and equal opportunities in the field of holiday travel. Organizations implementing innovative and needs-based concepts find valuable support in this grant program to further advance social participation during leisure vacations and to make inclusive togetherness tangible.
