Description
The statewide funding program for public tourism infrastructure in Rhineland-Palatinate supports municipal authorities and special-purpose associations as well as legal entities in which they hold stakes in investments in modern, sustainable, and experience-oriented local offerings. The goal is to strengthen the competitiveness of the Rhineland-Palatinate tourism industry and the economic development of the regions by increasing attractiveness, expanding, or establishing public visitor and leisure facilities. Examples of funded projects include piers for boating tourism, waterway rest areas, quality-certified hiking trail signage and furnishings, digital experience worlds, and other public visitor attractions. Projects must align with the Rhineland-Palatinate tourism strategy and demonstrate impulse effects, regional added value, and sustainable innovation levels.
Applications can be submitted year-round after prior consultation with the responsible approval authority; fixed deadlines do not apply. Funding rates amount to up to 85% of eligible expenses, and up to 75% for signage, marking, and furnishings of quality-certified trails. Both tangible and intangible investments with a minimum volume between €75,000 and €300,000 are eligible for funding. Allocation is based on the relevant tourism strategy, regional impact, and innovation potential. A two-stage procedure applies to projects with ERDF funds (Tourism 4.0). Interested institutions are advised to seek consultation early to clarify funding requirements and optimally prepare their projects.
