Description

The Sattelmühle Foundation supports non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and public bodies nationwide with earmarked grants for projects in the fields of environmental/nature conservation, climate protection, landscape management, coastal protection, flood protection, as well as forestry and forest sciences. Funding is provided for research projects, scientific studies, and training measures that serve the preservation and investigation of natural habitats. Applications must be submitted on time with a four-week lead time before the foundation board decisions scheduled in the calendar year 2025. The project duration extends up to a maximum of 60 months; eligible expenses include personnel costs, travel expenses, materials, and rental costs. A clear description of the project, a detailed financing plan, and proof of non-profit status are part of the funding application. Selection is carried out in a written procedure based on compliance with the foundation’s objectives, scientific and methodological quality, public accessibility, as well as feasibility and financial security.

The foundation awards its funds in the form of non-repayable grants and, if necessary, provides resources such as the use of the premises of the Sattelmühle Forestry Estate or research forest. Eligible institutions should ensure transparent budgeting and project structuring during planning to document timely use of funds. Interim and final reports as well as expenditure records must be submitted obligatorily. The funding aims to strengthen the long-term care and sustainable development of forests, fields, and coastal regions in the interest of the common good. Active public relations work on funded projects, taking into account the foundation’s logos, contributes to the visibility and appreciation of the jointly achieved research results and educational offerings.
