Description
The funding guideline for Circular Economy and Resource Efficiency (FRL KrW/2026) of the Free State of Saxony aims to support both investment and non-investment projects that contribute to a resource-efficient, environmentally friendly, and low-emission circular economy. Eligible applicants include companies of all sizes, public waste disposal authorities, municipalities, municipal associations, as well as associations, clubs, and non-profit organizations located in the Free State of Saxony (for JTF-funded projects in selected transition regions). Funding is provided, among other things, for investments in innovative production and recycling processes, digitization for waste prevention, phosphorus recovery from sewage sludge, awareness-raising and qualification measures, as well as STEP technologies for the creation or strengthening of critical value chains. Grants range between 10% and 90% of eligible expenses (minimum amount €8,000, maximum amount up to €10 million). Applications can be submitted continuously until December 31, 2027, with project start no earlier than January 16, 2026.
Conditions for funding include, among others, a demonstrable contribution to resource efficiency, compliance with ERDF or JTF requirements, as well as adherence to SME criteria or special conditions for large enterprises in JTF regions. Eligible costs include tangible and intangible investment costs, expert and consulting services, external services for project implementation, as well as direct expenses for qualification measures plus flat-rate indirect costs (7% of direct expenses). Own contributions, insurance premiums, legal and tax advice without funding relevance, land acquisition, and vehicle purchases are excluded. For the application, among other documents, a detailed project description, climate compatibility assessment, financing concept, and proof of official permits must be submitted. Consistent documentation and compliance with publicity and usage verification requirements ensure prompt approval and disbursement of funds.
