Support for Austrians Abroad - World Federation and Fund for Austrians Abroad

The measure supports the World Federation of Austrians Abroad as well as the Fund for Austrians Abroad in Need in Styria through the provision of contractually regulated grants. The goal is the sustainable networking and servicing of Styrians living abroad in order to promote social cohesion and democratic engagement. The financial resources originate from cooperation agreements between the federal government and the nine federal states, with the respective funding share determined according to the population key. This grant makes an important contribution to strengthening work and social affairs by enabling associations and initiatives to implement cultural, social, and supportive projects for local communities abroad.

The funding is aimed at both non-profit organizations and privately acting individuals with Styrian ties, particularly those who care for or support Austrians living abroad. Applications can be submitted at any time and without limitation, ensuring flexible project planning. A completed application form with a detailed project description, cost breakdown, and financing plan in accordance with the funding contract requirements is required. The processing is carried out by Department 9 – Culture, Europe, Sport of the Styrian Provincial Government, which is also responsible for reviewing the proof of use. This transparently designed funding structure creates an effective network that sustainably strengthens the cohesion of Styrian communities worldwide.
