Description

The Building Cultural Heritage Funding of the State of Vorarlberg is aimed at private owners of historically or landscape-characteristic properties outside of state-protected areas. A wide range of building cultural projects are supported – from rural estates, alpine and Vorsäß buildings, to hay huts with wooden shingle roofs, valley-typical wooden fences, small structures such as chapels, wayside shrines, or crosses, as well as historic pathways and cultural trail projects within local or regional hiking networks. The goal is the preservation and restoration of these cultural assets in accordance with the Nature Conservation and Landscape Development Act, with particular emphasis on substance-preserving measures and the regional identity of Vorarlberg.

Applications can be submitted at any time to the Department of Culture at the Office of the Vorarlberg State Government. The funding rate is up to 30% of the recognized expenses; higher funding is possible in exceptional hardship cases. The basis for the application includes a detailed description of the project, a breakdown of all costs including estimates, a site plan or aerial photo indicating the protected area, as well as photos of the current condition. Upon completion of the work, a final accounting including a listing of own contributions must be submitted. The decision is made in writing based on the Cultural Heritage Funding Guidelines; an on-site inspection ensures the appropriate use of funds. The measure contributes to the care of cultural heritage and strengthens the historical building culture in the State of Vorarlberg in the long term.
