Description

The Foundation for the Promotion of Outpatient Medical Care in the Free State of Thuringia offers medical students financial support for a block internship in general medicine at rural teaching practices in Thuringia. Participants receive a tiered travel allowance ranging from €150 to €250, depending on the direct distance to the teaching practice, as well as an additional accommodation allowance of €50. This subsidy is intended to offset the additional expenses for travel and lodging and thereby direct attention to outpatient care in towns and communities with fewer than 25,000 inhabitants (exception: Suhl). Thus, the measure not only promotes practical experience but also contributes to strengthening primary care in rural areas.

Eligible for funding are enrolled medical students who complete an accredited block internship in general medicine at a rural teaching practice. Applications must be submitted no later than four weeks after the end of the internship. Required documentation includes the completed application form and proof of accommodation costs. The distance assessment is based on the location of the respective university. An up-to-date list of eligible teaching practices and all relevant statutes are available in the provided documents. Applications are processed as informal PDF submissions; the statute contains detailed instructions on procedures and conditions.
