Funding for Performing Arts

The Performing Arts Funding Program of the State of Vorarlberg is aimed at professional dance and theater artists as well as associations and networks within the Vorarlberg performing arts scene. As a directly granted subsidy, it supports dance and theater projects with significant involvement of individuals from Vorarlberg. Funding is provided for fees, travel expenses, production, and material costs to enable productions, tours, and festival contributions. Structural measures and retroactive expenses are excluded. Submissions are accepted at any time; the Performing Arts Commission meets four times a year and recommends projects worthy of funding based on clear criteria such as artistic quality, innovative character, connection to Vorarlberg, and a realistic financing plan.

The responsibility lies with the State’s Department of Culture, which, together with the Performing Arts Commission, prepares the allocation. Professional dance and theater groups as well as initiatives in open-air theater benefit from direct contributions to annual programs, festivals, and individual projects. A fully completed application form including attachments serves as the basis for the decision. The goal is to strengthen the diversity of the performing arts in Vorarlberg, expand participation in cultural life, and sustainably promote the regional scene. Interested artists thus gain uncomplicated access to financial support and benefit from a transparent, quarterly review by experienced experts.
