Description
The program for the promotion of aquaculture and inland fisheries (EMFAF) supports small and micro-enterprises as well as their legally recognized associations in Brandenburg and Berlin in stabilizing and further developing the inland fisheries and aquaculture sector. Grants ranging from 40% to 100% fund productive investments in equipment, modernization and expansion of production facilities, as well as stocking and pond maintenance measures. The construction and modernization of processing facilities, research projects, and campaign-oriented information and communication measures can also be subsidized. A prerequisite for funding is proof of professional competence, a location and project in Brandenburg or Berlin, a total investment of no more than 200,000 euros, and SME status. Non-eligible costs include, for example, the acquisition of land, retroactive costs, interest, and operating expenses. Selection is based on criteria related to economic and ecological sustainability, degree of innovation, and contribution to sector stabilization.
Applications must be submitted exclusively digitally by December 31, 2029 via the system provided by the granting authority. Required documents include a project description, a cost and financing plan, proof of professional qualification, the opinion of the administrative authority, as well as all necessary permits and approvals. Beneficiaries are entitled, upon application, to implement innovation projects that contribute to the long-term profitability and ecological compatibility of aquaculture and inland fisheries enterprises. Detailed documentation and evidence must be submitted as part of the usage report. The initiative thus promotes sustainable investments, strengthens regional value chains, and contributes to climate protection and environmental conservation in rural areas.
