Description
The funding guideline for aquaculture and inland fisheries (EMFAF) aims to sustainably strengthen the inland fisheries and aquaculture sector in Brandenburg and Berlin. Funding is provided to small and micro-enterprises as well as legal associations engaged in pond management or operating aquaculture businesses as their main or secondary occupation. The program supports productive investments in equipment, energy-efficient modernizations, stocking and research measures, environmental services in carp pond management, as well as direct marketing and communication campaigns in the form of proportional grants ranging from 40% to 100%. Furthermore, pond maintenance and biotope protection measures according to Maintenance Plan A (up to €250/ha/year) and Maintenance Plan B can be reimbursed on a project basis. Applicants must demonstrate sustainable management according to Maintenance Plan A/B, maintain pond records, and ensure the designated use within the funding area. The maximum allowable total investment is €200,000, with exceptions for research projects and stocking measures. The funding rate depends on the funding subject; application deadlines end annually on October 31, with initial applications for 2023/24 due by June 30.
Applications are submitted exclusively via the digital application system of the State Office for Rural Development, Agriculture and Land Consolidation (LELF). In addition to the digital master data application and project descriptions, cost and financing plans, maintenance plans, pond records, nature conservation certificates, and certifications from the lower nature conservation authority must be submitted. If early project implementation is planned, a corresponding application can be made. Fund disbursements are documented in annual partial payments over the project period, and the proof of use must be submitted annually by March 31 of the following year. Through the designation of model enterprises and transparency obligations, the EMFAF program and its successes for biodiversity, climate protection, and regional value creation gain high visibility.
