Funding of the AWO Foundation Gelsenkirchen

The AWO Foundation Gelsenkirchen supports creative initiatives with open-ended grants that sustainably strengthen education, culture, health, and joy of life in Gelsenkirchen. The focus is on interdisciplinary projects for children, families, seniors, and people with disabilities, which enable thought-provoking impulses and community experiences through innovative approaches. Initiatives from non-profit organizations, public institutions, educational providers, and private individuals based or active in Gelsenkirchen are eligible for funding. Applications can be submitted at any time before the project starts and allow for a duration of up to 12 months, during which personnel and material costs, fees, and promotional measures can be covered.

For a successful application, a meaningful project outline, a detailed financing plan, and a realistic schedule must be submitted. Additionally, income proofs must be attached if private individuals are the grant recipients. In selecting projects, the foundation board is guided by the criteria of innovation content, local relevance to Gelsenkirchen, and sustainable impact.
