Funding by the Axel Bourjau Foundation

Since 2005, the Axel Bourjau Foundation has been committed to the common good in Büchen and the surrounding area by specifically supporting projects in the fields of child and youth work, art and culture, monument preservation, education and upbringing, youth welfare, as well as church-related purposes. Eligible for funding are public institutions, non-profit organizations, interest groups, and associations based in Schleswig-Holstein. A particular focus is placed on initiatives that correspond to the foundation’s purpose and have a regional connection. As a grant provider, the foundation continuously allocates funds annually to strengthen existing potentials, expand cultural offerings, and sustainably promote educational and social projects. All population groups—regardless of origin or life situation—are to benefit equally and contribute to the vibrant development of the region.

For a successful application, a written submission of documents is required at least 14 days before each board meeting. Applicants must provide a cost overview with a financing plan as well as proof of tax-privileged legal status, thereby demonstrating the overall financing of their project. Selection is based on alignment with the foundation’s objectives, assurance of remaining financing, and the regional connection. There is no guaranteed entitlement to funds; however, recipients are obligated to account for the use of funds. Through this transparent procedure, the foundation ensures needs-based funding that has a long-term impact and sustainably strengthens initiatives in Büchen and the surrounding area.
