Funding of the Charles and Elly Krüger Foundation

The Charles and Elly Krüger Foundation, based in Hamburg, is dedicated to the culture of remembrance through the ideological and material support of charitable organizations as well as public-law institutions. The focus of the funding purpose lies in the maintenance of the graves of fallen German soldiers and bombing victims, as well as the preservation and restoration of recognized architectural and archaeological monuments. Projects at the memorial site for bombing victims in Ohlsdorf and the Rosengarten honorary cemetery in the Vahrendorf district are particularly supported. By providing financial and material resources, the foundation makes a significant contribution to securing historical memorials and commemorative sites in the long term and preserving the cultural heritage of the Hanseatic city. Ongoing funding opportunities enable flexible planning and implementation of repair measures as well as monument conservation projects.

Eligible for funding are exclusively tax-privileged organizations and public-law corporations active in the fields of war graves care, memorial maintenance, monument protection, or urban development. The foundation sponsors both financial grants and in-kind contributions for measures that comply with state legal requirements. Applications can be submitted year-round and require proof of charitable status as well as evidence of the project-related objectives. The funding makes a sustainable contribution to Hamburg’s cultural infrastructure and supports experts in preserving historic places of remembrance to keep the legacy of Charles and Elly Krüger alive.
