Description
Promotion of Monument Preservation in Lower Austria enables continuous subsidies for renovation and restoration work on objects protected under the Monument Protection Act. Eligible for funding are natural and legal persons, companies, associations, cooperatives, foundations, as well as public and non-profit institutions with residence or headquarters in Lower Austria. Supported are castles, palaces, historic monasteries, residential buildings, industrial structures, and other monuments, whose restoration is carried out in agreement with the Federal Monuments Office. Applications may be submitted at any time – but always before construction begins – to the Department of Arts and Culture of the state. The indefinitely open funding aims to sustainably secure the cultural heritage and keep it accessible to the general public.
Project costs supported include renovation and restoration expenses, planning and project costs, as well as construction supervision and oversight. Selection criteria include the significance and urgency of the object, the professional quality of the planned measures, as well as the subsequent use for further cultural projects and general accessibility. Required are a completed application form, a detailed project description, a project-related cost calculation (Excel), and – for larger undertakings – a construction schedule. Funding is provided as a direct grant, with the amount of the contribution determined according to actual needs and taking into account existing own contributions and third-party funds.
