Since 1991, the Dieter Salch Foundation Pro Universitate has supported scientific research and teaching at the Bavarian Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg. The focus is particularly on the Faculty of Law, the Chair of Franconian Regional History, as well as the Research Center for the Teutonic Order established in 2011. The foundation promotes innovative projects in the fields of science, research & innovation, as well as education and training & further education. As a continuous funding opportunity, applications can be submitted at any time, ensuring flexible planning of scientific endeavors. Grants are awarded in the form of subsidies to specifically promote academic excellence and interdisciplinary exchange.

Eligible for funding are public institutions and educational establishments affiliated with the aforementioned university. Researchers and lecturers of the Faculty of Law, the Chair of Franconian Regional History, and the Research Center for the Teutonic Order are especially addressed. A prerequisite for funding is an active affiliation with the university, thereby ensuring a close integration of science and teaching. Through the continuous increase of the foundation’s capital in twelve steps, the founder Senator e.h. Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Dieter Salch has sustainably contributed to strengthening the academic profile. This measure offers an excellent opportunity to realize research projects with regional and disciplinary focus and to further expand the scientific network at the University of Würzburg.
