Description

The funding program for cockchafer control including overseeding or cover seeding in grassland is aimed at agricultural enterprises as well as private individuals in the federal state of Salzburg. With a grant between €150 and €630 per hectare (plus a surcharge for increased use of fungal barley), both mechanical and biological methods for controlling cockchafers are supported. The goal is to restore an intact sward with special consideration of soil protection. Through non-inversion grassland renewal, the use of seed mixtures approved in Austria, and biological agents, the measure contributes to sustainable grassland management and long-term stabilization of ecosystems – especially on slopes with 0% to over 50% inclination.

Requirements include at least 1 ha of grassland in the Salzburg funding area and a minimum payout amount of €400. Applicants submit applications via the locally responsible district chamber of agriculture between 01.06.2023 and 31.12.2028. The application must include a farm map with the marked control area, the current AMA field sheet, as well as invoices and proof of payment for biological control agents, mechanical services or own work, and seed. Final approval is granted by the Department of Livelihoods and Energy of the State of Salzburg. This funding specifically supports commitment to sustainable, soil-conserving grassland management.
