Description
The Erika Simon Foundation provides financial grants in historical Silesia for the preservation and research of the German-Polish cultural heritage. Funding is granted, among other things, for measures to rescue and restore architectural monuments as well as printing and translation costs for publications on Silesian history and culture. Additionally, the foundation supports professionally supervised conferences, youth encounters, and exhibitions that strengthen intercultural dialogue, as well as projects for the cultivation and promotion of the German language in the region. Eligible for funding are non-profit organizations, educational institutions, public entities, as well as volunteer groups or private individuals with headquarters or project locations in historical Silesia. A prerequisite for funding is that the project has not yet commenced at the time of application. The next deadline for submitting informal applications with a project outline and cost and financing plan is April 30, 2026, four weeks before a board meeting.
With this funding initiative, the foundation contributes to the restoration of significant architectural and cultural monuments, the realization of scientific and artistic publications, and the facilitation of encounters between German and Polish participants. Through targeted grants, the Erika Simon Foundation not only promotes monument preservation and publication projects but also makes an important contribution to reconciliation and mutual understanding. Project sponsors thus receive valuable support to preserve historical testimonies and initiate innovative formats for exchange and research. Interested applicants can submit their applications immediately in compliance with the technical requirements and thereby contribute to a lively engagement with the Silesian heritage.
