Description

The Archbishop Hermann Foundation in Freiburg continuously supports theological, pastoral, and religious education and training within the Archdiocese of Freiburg. Funding is provided to students, doctoral candidates, and researchers, as well as church institutions engaged in the fields of education, science, research, culture, music, or literature. Furthermore, the foundation supports the construction, structural maintenance, and equipment of training, further education, and pastoral facilities. Projects in Christian art, music, and literature may also be funded, including the acquisition of important art and cultural assets. As a grant provider, it values a balanced financing structure and reviews the quality and plausibility of project descriptions. Funding decisions up to €70,000 are made on an ongoing basis; higher amounts are decided semi-annually by the supervisory board.

Eligible for funding are private individuals, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and public entities with a direct connection to the Archdiocese of Freiburg. Applications can be submitted at any time and must include a detailed project description, cost and financing plan, as well as an income and expenditure statement. For non-profit organizations, the current tax exemption certificate must also be attached. Completed projects, projects without secured overall financing, or long-term institutional core financing are not funded. Applications must be submitted in writing or digitally before the project begins; deadlines for supervisory board meetings are March 31 (summer session) and September 30 (winter session). After project completion, a proof of use must be submitted. The foundation points out that its seal should be prominently integrated in any publications.
