Description

The ESC – Esche Schümann Commichau Foundation honors outstanding theses in the fields of law and economics with an annually awarded grant. Six excellent dissertations, habilitation theses, or diploma theses are recognized nationwide and rewarded with a cash prize. The aim is the sustainable promotion of young legal and economic scholars through the recognition of scientific originality and outstanding research performance. The foundation draws on a long-standing tradition since its establishment in 1997 and has supported over 100 awardees with more than EUR 150,000 to date.

We are interested in early-career researchers who wish to submit a first-class scientific work in the fields of law or economics. Submissions are evaluated based on the criteria of scientific originality, quality and depth of research, and relevance to the discipline. For a complete application, the following documents are required:
• Complete scientific work (dissertation, habilitation thesis, or diploma thesis)
• Curriculum vitae
• Letter of recommendation or expert report
The grant offers not only financial support but also valuable recognition of scientific excellence and provides the awardees with broad public visibility. In doing so, the foundation makes an important contribution to strengthening innovation and quality in research and teaching.
