Promotion of Facade Greening in Vienna

The promotion of facade greening in Vienna is aimed at owners of private, commercial, and public buildings in the federal capital who wish to ecologically enhance their facades. With an annual budget of €1.5 million, the Municipal Department 22 (Environmental Protection) supports measures that contribute to improving the urban climate, increasing biodiversity, and enhancing the quality of stay in urban spaces. The focus is on environmental and climate protection goals as well as sustainable urban development, in accordance with the funding guidelines 2024–2026. The continuous availability of funds allows applications to be submitted at any time until the budget is exhausted.

Expenditures for plants and substrate, mounting systems, as well as planning and installation are eligible for funding. Prerequisites for approval include a location in Vienna, compliance with the provisions of the funding guidelines, and submission prior to project commencement. The funding is provided as a non-repayable grant and is awarded after review of the submitted project documents. Through this financial support, ecological greening concepts become tangible and make a valuable contribution to a livable, climate-resilient city.
