Grants are provided either as one-time or recurring payments to emergency personnel or their family members following significant health impairments resulting from service, in cases of severe illness requiring hospitalization, as well as to support innovative measures in child and youth work.

Description
Since 2009, the Wilfried Köbler Fire Brigade Foundation Darmstadt-Dieburg has been sustainably supporting voluntary fire and disaster protection in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district in Hesse. With one-time or recurring grants, it supports emergency personnel as well as their relatives who have suffered significant health disadvantages as a result of their service or are undergoing a serious illness requiring inpatient hospital treatment. Additionally, innovative projects aimed at strengthening children’s and youth work within the fire brigades are funded to inspire and engage future generations in disaster protection. The foundation places special emphasis on research & innovation, health, work & social affairs, as well as the holistic promotion of children and young people in the fire brigade environment.
Eligible for funding are all members voluntarily active in fire and disaster protection within the Darmstadt-Dieburg District Fire Brigade Association e.V., as well as their family members in cases of health impairments due to service activities. Membership in the District Fire Brigade Association and proven voluntary activity are prerequisites. Applications can be submitted at any time; there is no fixed deadline. The foundation’s goal is to complete the social safety net for emergency personnel while simultaneously promoting pioneering approaches in children’s and youth work. Through the continuous awarding of grants, the foundation makes an important contribution to safety and social cohesion in the region.
