Description
The funding of continuing education for emergency physicians in Styria supports mandatory "emergency physician refreshers" and advanced courses to continuously maintain the qualifications of physicians working in the ground-based emergency physician service. Up to €1,000 per person is available within a personal funding period of 36 months. Only verified continuing education costs—such as participation fees and course materials—are covered at 100%. Applications can be submitted at any time via the e-government portal of the State of Styria, as the deadline is unlimited and continuously ensured in accordance with the 2023 guideline. Payment is made within twelve weeks after a positive decision and submission of all required documentation.
Eligible for funding are natural persons who are trained in accordance with § 40 para. 2 ÄrzteG, registered with the Coordination Office for Emergency and Disaster Medicine of Styria, and currently active in the organized ground-based emergency physician service. Additionally, proof of at least four emergency physician shifts in the six months prior to application is required. The attended continuing education events must be recognized by the Austrian Medical Chamber and completed within the 36-month period. Applications must be submitted within six months after the course completion. Required documents for submission include, among others, a funding application confirmation, participation certificate, Austrian Medical Chamber recognition, proof of payment, service records, and, if applicable, the emergency physician diploma. Travel, accommodation, and meal expenses are excluded from funding.
