Description
The Franz Schubert Foundation supports non-profit organizations and public institutions in Bavaria with projects dedicated to assisting children with severe or rare diseases (particularly muscular disorders) and their families, as well as providing support to bereaved parents and siblings. Funding is provided, among other things, for the procurement of assistive devices, subsidies for therapeutic measures, and grief counseling services. The goal is to significantly improve the quality of life for those affected, to raise societal awareness of the unique challenges faced by these families, and to advance research in the field of rare diseases. The foundation operates continuously and provides grants covering up to 75% of eligible expenses.
A regional connection to Bavaria or Southeast Upper Bavaria is required for funding. Applicant institutions must be recognized as non-profit or as public law entities and demonstrate a minimum own contribution of 25% of the project costs. The project duration is limited to a maximum of 12 months. Eligible expenses include, among others, assistive devices, therapy costs, and materials for grief work. Applications can be submitted in writing at any time; these must include a detailed project description, a financing plan including the own contribution, and proof of non-profit status or public law entity status. Decisions are made based on the purpose alignment, regional relevance, and amount of own contribution. Interested organizations can find further information in the funding guidelines of the Franz Schubert Foundation.
