Description

Since its founding in 2010, the Community Foundation of the Archdiocese of Freiburg has supported charitable and non-profit initiatives in Baden-Württemberg in the four focus areas of education, youth, family, and world church. Funding is provided to church organizations such as the Archdiocese itself, parishes, deanery associations, and foundations that implement sustainable, innovative projects and incorporate networking, volunteer work, as well as multiplication and evaluation. Through the individual foundation funds, up to €30,000 per year is granted to initiatives that draw on their own resources and additional subsidies and do not seek full 100% financing. Applications may be submitted continuously; decisions on grants up to €30,000 are made promptly, while larger projects are reviewed in biannual meetings (summer session by March 31, winter session by September 30).

A prerequisite for funding is that the registered office or project location is within the Archdiocese of Freiburg and that at least three funding criteria are met: sustainability, innovative character, network building, volunteerism, replicability, and evaluation. Ongoing projects with permanent third-party funding needs, already completed measures, as well as ongoing personnel and material costs of existing institutions are not funded. Applications must include a signed funding application, a detailed project description with a timeline, a cost and financing plan, and a complete statement of expenses and income. Upon project completion, a usage report with a final report and accounting must be submitted. The foundation supports interested parties both ideationally and materially and also offers the possibility to establish their own trust foundations under its umbrella.
