Funding of the H. and R. Dickschat Foundation

The H. and R. Dickschat Foundation supports children with cancer and their families in Hamburg who are experiencing acute financial or psychosocial distress, as well as projects of the pediatric oncology ward at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). As a private foundation, it grants needs-based subsidies following a careful individual case review in close coordination with the medical and psychosocial team of the ward. Eligible for funding are both private individuals and public institutions dedicated to caring for affected families or developing clinical projects. Applications can be submitted continuously without fixed deadlines, allowing urgent support needs to be addressed promptly.

Funded measures include, in addition to covering treatment costs and psychosocial support, the reimbursable financing of funeral expenses for deceased children, provided the individual situation necessitates it. The foundation's goal is to relieve parents and siblings during stressful phases while simultaneously enhancing the quality of care at the UKE through project-related grants. Through this continuous funding structure, the H. and R. Dickschat Foundation makes a sustainable contribution to the quality of life of children with cancer and their families.
