Description
The IKEA Foundation supports a wide range of initiatives across Germany dedicated to improving living conditions and strengthening consumer education. The foundation places particular emphasis on projects that support children and young people – from promoting socially disadvantaged groups to project-based support for child and youth facilities. Through the "Help for Self-Help" initiative, the IKEA Foundation helps bridge financial gaps when crucial funds are missing for the implementation of promising projects. Only measures carried out in Germany are supported, ensuring a regional added value that reflects the demands of a sustainable living and housing culture.
The funding program is characterized by an uncomplicated approach: applications can be submitted year-round in a flexible and unrestricted format, provided they are written in A4 format. Financial support is provided in the form of grants specifically intended to cover fees and material costs. However, the foundation excludes funding for furniture, furnishings, or general donation appeals to ensure clear and targeted use of funds. This approach guarantees that primarily innovative ideas and projects with a sustainable impact on housing, living culture, and consumer education can be supported and realized.
Applications are submitted through a written concept that details the respective project plans and meets the funding criteria. With fixed deadlines, such as April 1 and September 1, 2025, a regular decision-making process is ensured, during which the grant program is applied. This carefully structured procedure enables all interested project sponsors to present their innovative ideas and thus make a sustainable contribution to children, young people, and the general living culture in Germany. The IKEA Foundation thereby supports projects that not only provide short-term financial assistance but also contribute to social development and consumer education in the long term.
