Support for the Israelite Religious Society

The funding from the Israelite Religious Society supports non-profit Jewish institutions in Vienna in implementing targeted security measures. As continuously available grants, this program aims to sustainably enhance the level of protection for synagogues, community centers, and cultural sites. Funded measures include structural security enhancements, the installation of technical alarm systems, and the optimization of access controls. The Federal Ministry of the Interior defines this initiative as part of its strategy “Secure.Austria 2025 | Vision 2030” to ensure public safety and protect critical infrastructures. Non-profit organizations benefit from open-ended application deadlines, allowing for flexible project initiation at any time.

Requirements for a successful application include a written request, a detailed performance, cost, schedule, and financing plan, as well as the annual submission of a work program and financial plan. Submissions may be made informally but must always be fully documented. Upon positive evaluation, the grant is approved and disbursed in accordance with the General Framework Guidelines for the Awarding of Grants from Federal Funds (ARR 2014). The funding makes a central contribution to increasing the protection of Jewish communities against threats and strengthens the sense of security for all involved. Interested organizations receive reliable financial support through these programs to implement long-term protection concepts in Vienna.
