Description
The Johannes Bugenhagen Foundation supports non-profit church-related projects within the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District. Eligible applicants include congregations, church organizations, and initiatives planning projects for the proclamation of the Gospel, pastoral care, instruction, or mission. In the thematic areas of commitment to social cohesion, democracy, education, culture, work & social affairs, as well as training & further education, grants of up to €5,000 per measure are available. The foundation places particular emphasis on a clear connection to the church district and a contribution of own funds by the applicants. Funding measures are approved either as matching or fixed-amount grants, with co-financing from other sources required. Funds are generally disbursed after project completion; upon request, a provisional advance payment is possible provided that the proof of fund usage is submitted on time.
Submissions are only possible until March 31 of each funding year and must be made prior to the project start. The application must include a completed application form, a concise project description, and an overview of income and expenses. Upon completion of the project, a brief report on the use of funds must be submitted. Selection is made by the board of trustees based on the funding guidelines, which particularly assess the local anchoring within the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District, the quality of the proclamation, and the applicant’s own contribution. There is no legal entitlement to funding. This program offers non-profit organizations at the local level an attractive opportunity to strengthen church life and implement new forms of proclamation and pastoral care.
