Description
The KfW Foundation supports self-developed, medium- to long-term projects of non-profit organizations in Germany in the areas of culture, environmental and nature conservation, social cohesion and democracy, research & innovation, culture & media, as well as energy efficiency & climate protection. In addition to financial grants, supported projects receive operational support from the Foundation and selected cooperation partners. A key selection criterion is the transferability of the project approach, in order to enable innovative ideas to achieve the broadest possible public impact. Inquiries are accepted on an ongoing basis and reviewed within the framework of the program approaches independently of fiscal years; however, pure financing requests without substantive support are not considered.
For an application, interested parties must submit their organizational structure and objectives, experience in the relevant subject area, the concept with the intended impact, a timeline, planned cooperations, as well as a detailed cost and budget plan including the desired funding amount. Excluded are expenses for start-up financing, operating costs, material or printing cost subsidies, events, monument preservation, research projects for theses, as well as compensation for government benefits. Another criterion for decision-making is the substantive alignment of the projects with the core values of the KfW Foundation. Approval is granted by means of a funding agreement, which regulates, among other things, the earmarked use of funds, reporting obligations, and deadlines. In this way, the Foundation aims to realize holistic and impact-oriented model projects that provide impulses for sustainable action and social participation.
