Description

The Johanneum Children and Youth Foundation in Chemnitz supports regional initiatives that open up new opportunities for socially disadvantaged children and young people. Through grants for innovative projects by independent and municipal youth welfare organizations as well as for individual support services, the foundation promotes the development of social and communicative skills, as well as the strengthening of self-esteem and life skills of young people. Model character, creativity, networking, and a close focus on the needs of the participants are central to this. Each year, project ideas – ranging from holiday programs and circus workshops to technical or nature education modules and prevention measures in schools – can be submitted for funding, provided they are carried out in Chemnitz and offer new substantive impulses.

Applications can be submitted informally at any time but must be received at least twelve weeks before the project start date. The application must include information about the applicant, the project title and duration, a detailed project description, the overall cost plan, and a financing plan. The allocation of funds is decided by the board at its due discretion within the framework of available resources. Costs for class trips, graduation trips, or educational trips are not eligible for funding. Projects with a high degree of innovation, strong cooperation, and genuine added value for the participants are particularly positively evaluated. The goal is a sustainable strengthening of participation and social cohesion in Chemnitz.
