Description

The Klaus and Lore Rating Foundation supports non-profit, civically engaged organizations in the Hamburg metropolitan region that are committed with passion and courage to creating a more humane society. The focus is on social, health-related, cultural, as well as educational and employment promotion projects – ranging from emergency aid in crisis situations and senior companionship to reading promotion and cultural participation for children and youth disadvantaged in education. As a grant-making foundation, it particularly strengthens projects without substantial financial reserves, thereby opening up new perspectives for initiatives often facing precarious life circumstances. Support is provided in the form of grants and can also be accompanied by advisory services in close coordination with the foundation team. The ongoing focus on Hamburg honors the place of residence of the founders Klaus and Lore Rating and enables targeted funding on site.

Applications can be submitted at any time and must be submitted digitally as a consolidated PDF document. The following documents are required: completed and signed application form, detailed project description, tabular cost/financing plan, current tax exemption certificate, and, if applicable, CVs of the project leaders. Upon receipt of the complete documents, the foundation estimates a processing time of at least six weeks. There is no formal deadline, allowing spontaneous initiatives to be considered as well as long-term planning. After approval of funding, a written agreement is drawn up; a report on the use of funds must be submitted no later than four months after project completion. This streamlined procedure ensures an unbureaucratic allocation of funds and relies on the commitment of the applicants as well as the expertise of their project concepts.
