Description

The Cultural Foundation of the German States supports nationwide art and cultural-historical exhibition, acquisition, and restoration projects that hold exceptional significance for Germany’s cultural identity and simultaneously exert international influence. Public museums, libraries, and archives may apply for a grant to acquire, preserve, and appropriately present significant objects from their own collections. This funding line emphasizes regional anchoring and a scientifically interdisciplinary approach by rewarding innovative mediation formats as well as sustainable investments in research and exhibition technology. Applications must be submitted digitally by June 15 and December 15 of each year.

Prerequisites for funding include, among others, a minimum budget of 250,000 euros, a focus on own holdings, and orientation towards temporary exhibition projects with supra-regional relevance. The jury evaluates projects based on their international significance, the quality of scholarly development, visitor orientation, and the long-term impact of the funds used. A binding consultation with the Cultural Foundation of the German States is required prior to application to coordinate the individual funding pathway. This financial support strengthens the presentation and research of cultural heritage in the long term and contributes to securing and keeping alive the rich legacy for future generations.
