Description

The funding program “LEADER – Support for Rural Development in Brandenburg” assists regional stakeholders in municipalities, associations, non-profit organizations, SMEs, and private initiatives in implementing innovative development strategies. With an overall period from July 2023 to June 2027, up to 90% grants are available for regional management, non-investive projects, national and transnational cooperations, as well as investive projects. A regional budget of up to 200,000 euros annually enables small projects of local significance. The overarching goal is the sustainable strengthening of rural areas, the improvement of equal living conditions, and the promotion of cultural, educational, environmental, and social projects. Key priorities include environmental protection, climate protection, energy-efficient construction, and strengthening regional value chains. The program implementation is carried out by Local Action Groups (LAG) with expert regional managers and a transparent project selection process.

Funding covers, among other things, personnel costs, material and fee expenses, construction measures, technical installations, outdoor facilities, as well as machinery and equipment. Exceptions include the acquisition of real estate, operating costs, legal and tax advice, or acquisition of production rights. Eligible applicants are natural and legal persons who implement measures in the cultural, educational, social, and environmental sectors or advance entrepreneurial investments in rural tourism and regional value creation. The basis for funding is a positive vote from the LAG and compliance with the “rural area” territorial framework. Project applications must be submitted online via the State Office for Rural Development, Agriculture and Land Consolidation (LELF). In addition to cost estimates, financing and utilization concepts, building permits, LAG votes, as well as proof of non-profit status or profitability forecasts must be submitted. The final allocation of funds takes place after review of all documents and proof of use.
