Funding objective

The Lörcher Foundation – for Medical Research supports scientific projects and practical measures aimed at advancing research in the fields of neurology (e.g., Alzheimer’s, migraine, Parkinson’s) and oncology (research into the causes of cancer) at both national and international levels. Funding is provided for basic research, pediatric research, clinical research, epidemiological research, psychosocial research, and nursing research, where a high degree of initiative, creativity, and sustainability is ensured.

Description

The Lörcher Foundation for Medical Research continuously supports pioneering research projects in the fields of oncology and neurology. Nationwide, individuals, public institutions, associations, corporations, and non-profit organizations have the opportunity to apply for financial support in the form of grants. Funded are innovative initiatives from basic, pediatric, clinical, epidemiological, psychosocial, and nursing research that demonstrate a high degree of initiative, creativity, and sustainability. The foundation aims to advance research into the causes of cancer as well as neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, migraine, and Parkinson’s, and to strengthen scientific excellence at both national and international levels. Applications can be submitted at any time on an ongoing basis in accordance with the funding guidelines, enabling flexible project periods and rapid decision-making processes.

For the application, a fully completed inquiry form, a project description of no more than one page, and – for non-profit applicants – a copy of the tax exemption certificate are required. All documents must be sent by post to the foundation; electronic submissions will not be considered. Selection is based on clear evaluation criteria: quality and degree of innovation of the research, stringent financial planning, sustainability and serial usability of the project results, as well as the initiative of those involved. Non-fundable items include, among others, travel expenses, printing costs, construction and maintenance expenses, as well as promotional activities. There is no maximum funding amount; however, the foundation primarily supports projects that rely less on large budgets and more on scientific commitment. Through this funding, research-oriented institutions and individuals receive a reliable foundation to provide important impulses for improving the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of serious diseases.
