Description

The LOTTO Foundation Berlin supports non-profit projects in a variety of fields that serve the common good in the capital. The funding program targets institutions that design innovative measures in the interest of Berlin in the areas of social cohesion, culture, social affairs, environmental and nature conservation, as well as other relevant fields. With continuous funding in the form of a grant, organizations can implement projects that pursue social as well as charitable, civic, or environmentally friendly goals. The application must be submitted in paper form to the responsible foundation at least nine months before the project start date. This funding model places special emphasis on future-oriented and not yet initiated measures that promise a positive impact on the Berlin community.

To receive funding, applicants must ensure that the planned initiative clearly meets the requirements: it must be a non-profit initiative classified as a project in the social, cultural, charitable, civic, or environmental protection sector. It is essential that the application is either submitted by a Berlin-based institution or that the project is directly implemented in Berlin. An important prerequisite is that the organization acts as a legal entity – an exception is made in the cultural sector, where natural persons are also eligible for funding, provided the measure is made accessible to the public. These clearly defined criteria are intended to ensure that only projects meeting the specific needs of the region benefit from the funding.

Applications are accepted exclusively in writing, with the completed application form serving as an essential part of the submission. The evaluation of funding applications is carried out by the responsible Senate departments and includes expert assessments before the foundation board makes a final decision. This structured approach takes into account the diversity and complexity of the projects and promotes a transparent selection process. Through the funding of the LOTTO Foundation Berlin, a broad spectrum of projects is specifically supported to sustainably improve the quality of life in the capital and actively address social, cultural, and environmental challenges.
